Growing up in the South, Ben learned the importance of hospitality at an early age. After attending college on the West Coast, Ben moved to Charleston to start a restaurant career, working his way up at Charleston’s acclaimed pizza restaurant, EVO. In 2013, he was introduced to the great world of barbecue when he volunteered for legendary pitmaster, Rodney Scott, at the Big Apple Barbecue in New York City. In 2015, Ben teamed up with Pitmaster John Lewis, helping him launch the popular pop-up at Revelry Brewing and plan the impending opening of Lewis Barbecue this winter. When he’s not at work, Ben is an avid bicyclist and volunteers with Charleston Moves to promote bicycle awareness and safety. He enjoys cooking, especially barbecue and fermented things.
