A native South Carolinian, Philip moved to New York City to study and stage with some of the best restaurants in the country, including Eleven Madison Park, LeBernardin, and Oceana. After learning from New York’s great chefs, Philip left the fine-dining world to work at a bootstrapped barbecue joint, Delaney Barbecue, in Brooklyn. Delaney Barbecue immediately gained notoriety, receiving awards for its Central-Texas style ‘cue. Following his meat-loving taste buds, Philip joined the crew of Lewis Barbecue in Charleston’s Half Mile North development, scheduled to open in late 2015. When he’s not working, Philip enjoys woodworking, antiquing, and exploring Charleston with his Wife and their 90-pound German shepherd, Prim.
